Hobbs v. Meta is transferred out of New York after the judge signs the parties' transfer stipulation
The New York federal court's docket shows that on Oct. 5, 2026 a "Stipulation and Order" was entered in Hobbs v. Meta (Dkt. 36), after a memo endorsement the same day (Dkt. 35), and that the case was then marked as transferred out to another district. On Oct. 2 the parties had told Judge Engelmayer that the plaintiffs agreed to stipulate to a transfer to the Northern District of California, following the Sept. 25 transfer of the publishers' suit, Elsevier v. Meta, and asked him to approve the stipulation. As proposed, the stipulation also vacated the defendants' Oct. 7 deadline to respond to the amended complaint, with a new date to be set by the California court. The signed order itself is not yet publicly available on CourtListener, so its exact terms are not confirmed here, and the case's new California docket number has not yet appeared.

What the labels mean
Every item says what kind of source it rests on. A court ruling or order is the court's own statement. A company filing is what a defendant says about itself. A government filing is a statement by a government agency that is not a party to the case, such as a statement of interest; it is the government's position, not a ruling. An allegation is what a complaint or motion claims and has not been decided. Reported means press reporting we have not confirmed from the primary document. Summaries are our own; follow the links for the source.
This page is general information, not legal advice. An allegation is not a finding. Whether any of this matters for a particular work or claim is a question for a lawyer.
