Judge Chhabria moves the first Meta book-piracy trial up to May 3, 2027, telling Meta's lead counsel that "this case is going to trial on May 3"
In a text-only order entered in Kadrey v. Meta and the related individual cases, Judge Vince Chhabria moved the trial of Entrepreneur Media's case against Meta from May 24 to May 3, 2027, with the pretrial conference on April 20, 2027. If Entrepreneur Media settles, the May 3 date goes to the next of the individual cases. The hearing on dispositive motions stays on February 25, 2027. The judge said he was adjusting the date because Meta's lead trial counsel had raised a conflict with a June 2027 class action trial in which she represents Amazon in the Western District of Washington. If the gap is still too short, he wrote, she should ask that court for a continuance; if that is denied, "this case is going to trial on May 3."

What the labels mean
Every item says what kind of source it rests on. A court ruling or order is the court's own statement. A company filing is what a defendant says about itself. A government filing is a statement by a government agency that is not a party to the case, such as a statement of interest; it is the government's position, not a ruling. An allegation is what a complaint or motion claims and has not been decided. Reported means press reporting we have not confirmed from the primary document. Summaries are our own; follow the links for the source.
This page is general information, not legal advice. An allegation is not a finding. Whether any of this matters for a particular work or claim is a question for a lawyer.
