Bartz v. Anthropic: class counsel and Anthropic tell the court they expect the first settlement payments to go out the week of Nov. 23, 2026
In a joint stipulation filed Oct. 23, 2026 (Dkt. 694), class counsel and Anthropic ask Judge Martínez-Olguín to approve further additions to the settlement website's FAQ page, following the court's final approval of the settlement (Dkt. 680) and its approval of earlier website updates (Dkt. 692). The parties say class members keep asking about the claims process, how payments are split between co-claimants for the same work, and the allocation portal where claimants can adjust their claimed shares. The new FAQ text (Exhibit A) is meant to explain how to use that portal, how to handle claims shared with co-rightsholders, and the deadlines for resolving allocation disputes. The parties state that they expect the settlement administrator to send notices of agreed allocations on or before Nov. 13, 2026, and to make the initial distribution of settlement payments during the week of Nov. 23, 2026. These dates are the parties' expectations; the court had not signed the proposed order when this was posted.

What the labels mean
Every item says what kind of source it rests on. A court ruling or order is the court's own statement. A company filing is what a defendant says about itself. A government filing is a statement by a government agency that is not a party to the case, such as a statement of interest; it is the government's position, not a ruling. An allegation is what a complaint or motion claims and has not been decided. Reported means press reporting we have not confirmed from the primary document. Summaries are our own; follow the links for the source.
This page is general information, not legal advice. An allegation is not a finding. Whether any of this matters for a particular work or claim is a question for a lawyer.
